The Pleasures Of Adult Coloring

Adult coloring has helped millions to rediscover their desire for art, reawakening their inner creativeness and finding another passion. Maybe you’ve just discovered adult coloring and you need to try it out but aren’t quite sure where to start?

Choose a Book

The simplest beginning point is just to select a coloring book from the many available. If you obtain a coloring book, you’ll have more than sufficient pictures to complete, along with all the different designs being in a single package that’s easy to carry along, if you like. If you want to choose the kind of paper on which your coloring pictures are printed, you may wish to download single coloring pages or even a package of pictures to print out yourself, so that you can control the type of surface and paper thickness you use.

Don’t believe that mandalas are the only products available for adults to color. You will find a large number of coloring books on just about any theme imaginable. Many individuals like nature or landscaping. If this is you, then try the Secret Garden Coloring Book or even the Enchanted Forest Coloring Book.

Animal-themed coloring books are enjoyable, too. You can pick ones including just one type of animal, for example, if you’re a family pet lover, you can pick Dazzling Dogs or Beautiful Birds. But there are also ones which have many different creatures such as the Stress Relieving Animal Designs Coloring Book.

But you don’t have to simply stick with animal pictures either: you will find landscapes and abstract styles made available, in addition to pictures which include motivational or encouraging phrases or affirmations. For instance, there’s an Inspirational Coloring Book for Everyone along with the Good Vibes Coloring Book. And if you have a preference for stronger language, you will find coloring books that focus on that and still stronger language if you want. There are also coloring pictures and journals or diaries with religious themes.

Choosing The Type Of Book

Some adults like to color pictures that have large swathes of space, so they can add their own versions of shading, while others prefer highly detailed pictures with many tiny details, making an intricate pattern or whole. Whichever type of picture you prefer, you can find many variations available and focusing on your chosen type of picture and coloring mindfully can put you “in the zone”, in which time does not matter and you become relaxed and maybe stress free.

If you want to be able to frame the pictures you color, you will need to check the weight of the paper in the coloring book or else download and print your own pictures, choosing the type of paper you want to use in your printer.

Markers and gel pens can bleed through certain types of paper. If these are your favorite types of pen, then you can choose single-sided print books, or place thick paper or card between the pages of your book when coloring, so colors do not bleed through. Some books provide purely a quote on the reverse side of a picture, so you do not have to choose between two pictures to color in.

Try Different Coloring Tools

Use any kind of coloring tool you have available. Two popular choices are colored pencils and markers. You will find benefits in both type of implement.

Coloring pencils, let you create different shades of a color by varying the level of pressure you apply with the pencil. This gives you extra control over the end pic.

Markers give the image an attractive, vibrant look, with the exception that it normally won’t allow you to vary your hue. That means if you wish to paint a flower a number of shades of blue, you might have difficulty doing that.

You may need to check new coloring books to make sure your markers will not ‘bleed’ to a different page. When they do, place spare paper behind the page you’re coloring, so the colors don’t transfer to a different page. Some coloring books are single sided and others have just a quote on the reverse side to avoid colors bleeding through.

You shouldn’t be afraid to test other coloring tools. Many individuals enjoy coloring with gel pens. Others prefer to train on a box of crayons. Test a couple of options and discover your preferences as the most enjoyable. You’re the one doing the coloring – you select the colours and also the medium to make use of.

Get New Coloring Sheets Each Month

If you could be considered to be “stuck” on coloring, or even simply love getting new coloring sheets, then you may want to take a look at coloring memberships. You will find websites for registering online and you’ll receive new coloring pages every month, on different themes, including, for example, the month, the season, various holidays, animals, plants, mandalas and many others.

Based on what type of membership meets your requirements, you will get your coloring sheets delivered digitally or physically. The benefit of going digital is you print the designs yourself, and that means you could make the selection of the weight of paper or if you need a particular layout, you can ensure it’s just how you need.

On the other hand, you may prefer to try Etsy or Ebay, for instance. You can find everything from single pages, to complete books of coloring opportunities.

https://www.coloringdiary.com/Buying single pages gives you the opportunity to see what you’re getting before you buy, however, this may be a more expensive way to buy coloring pages. The benefit of having your designs inside a book means you can easily take coloring pages along with you anywhere. All that you need to do is grab your book, your coloring tools, and you’re prepared for adventure.

Remember, coloring is a bit like life, it isn’t about doing it “right” or remaining within the lines. There aren’t any rules with regards to coloring. You can make your trees crimson and snow vibrant yellow if you  like. Add your own doodles for that page, or paste an uplifting quote within your coloring sheet. Do what provides you with the most fun and gratification and when you are within the flow, you may even gain peace from coloring.

Inspire Yourself with Doodling

https://www.coloringdiary.com/Doodling is a good way to reconnect with your creative side. It’s NOT something to avoid, as you may have been told in childhood. It’s fun, easy and cheap. You can do it anywhere, even with a finger on the sand, if you are at the beach, or if all you have is a pen and some rough paper. But it does more than just stimulate you artistically. Doodling has been proven to relieve stress and tension. It also improves memory and can make it easier for you to focus. Best of all, it can leave you feeling relaxed and revitalized. There is a video of doodle patterns at the bottom of this article.

There Are Doodle Books

Use Prompts to Inspire You

A good one to start with is Draw, Doodle, Design by Parragon Books. It contains all sorts of different pages and hundreds of prompts and the high-quality pages are perfect for markers, pencils, crayons, and more. You can find plenty of prompts and ideas at MyModernMet or on line at Pinterest or through a search engine.

Doodle with Different Tips

You can doodle with just about any pen or pencil you want to. But make sure to choose one that has a comfortable grip and doesn’t smear as you draw. A gel pen might have a vibrant color but if it leaks all over your work, it can be upsetting.

You also need to pay attention to the size of the pen tip that you’re using. Ultra-fine tips give more control and make your lines thinner, perfect for doodling small objects. Bigger tips will give you thicker lines and can be great for doodling with bold swipes. Get a set of pens with a variety of nib sizes.
